#745 closed enhancement (fixed)

There is no BitTorrent client available

Reported by: isilanes Owned by: Heinervdm
Priority: minor Milestone: wishlist
Component: Package requests Version: SHR-unstable
Keywords: bittorrent p2p Cc:

Description

A device running SHR is a full-fledged Linux system, generally boasting Internet connection. It would be desirable that such a system be able to connect to p2p networks. BitTorrent? clients such as Transmission or Deluge would be quite useful.

While this would work (if you connect a large USB disk eg), I am not really willing to maintain an app that would probably be used by one guy.

If you find a working recipe file from OE, I would reconsider, but given the small manpower we have, we can really only focus on a phone-related subset of packages.

Sorry for the bad news.

OE has rtorrent (a command line based torrent client with modern features like DHT) http://tinderbox.openembedded.net/packages/rtorrent/ and Transmission (the client the original poster requested) http://tinderbox.openembedded.net/packages/transmission/ . Both are successfully built on the OE tinderbox and in angstrom distribution.

transmission is added to the feed and will appear as soon as the feed is being rebuild.
